Who we are
Rosebridge English is an online English school for working adults. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Rosebridge English, and "the site" means rosebridgeenglish.com. If you have a question about your information, email hello@rosebridgeenglish.com and a person on our team will answer.
What we collect and why
When you join the waitlist
Your name and email, plus anything else you choose to tell us: the country you live in, your English level, the plan you're interested in, and what you need English for. We use it to tell you when your course opens and to plan classes and times. We only collect it if you tick the box agreeing to hear from us, and you can withdraw that at any time.
When you take the free level check
Your answers are saved in your own browser so you can stop and come back. They aren't sent to us until you click Finish and send. Then your name, email address and answers come to us by email, and a copy is kept on our web server. A teacher uses them to work out your level and recommend a course. We also send you one email to say we got your test.
When you email us
Your email address and whatever you write. We use it to answer you.
When you have a student or tutor account
Your name, email and sign-in details, your CEFR level, the sessions you book or teach, the lessons you finish, and the ratings you give lessons. We use it to run your course: to show your progress, to let your teacher prepare, and to plan sessions.
Live sessions
Video and sound in live sessions travel through our video provider so you and your teacher can see and hear each other. We don't record live sessions. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and ask you before any session of yours is recorded.
Payments
Paid plans aren't open yet. Before they are, we'll update this policy to explain how payments are handled.
How you use the site (only if you click Accept)
Which pages you open and for how long, which buttons and links you click, the site or campaign link that brought you here, your device type, browser, operating system, language, time zone and screen width, and a random ID that lets us tell a returning visitor from a new one. We use it to see which pages help people and which confuse them. It doesn't include your name, email, IP address, or anything you type into a form.
Basic server records
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records each request to the site: the IP address, browser type, page requested, the page you came from and the time. These records are used to keep the site secure and working, and the hosting provider deletes them on its own schedule.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it, then delete it.
- Waitlist: up to 2 years after you sign up, or sooner if you join a course or ask to be removed.
- Level check tests: 12 months.
- Accounts and learning records: while your account is open, and up to 2 years after it closes.
- Site analytics: 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Emails with us: up to 2 years.
Tax and payment records are the one exception. We keep those for up to 10 years, and only when we need them to meet tax or accounting rules.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- show you the information we have about you, or send you a copy
- correct anything that's wrong
- delete your information
- stop using it for something you agreed to, like the waitlist or analytics
- stop using it for a particular purpose you object to
Email hello@rosebridgeenglish.com. We'll reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm who you are first. Depending on where you live (for example the European Union, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia or Argentina), the law may give you these rights by name, such as the ARCO rights in Mexico, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to fix the problem first.
Where it's stored
Our database is in Canada. Some of the companies listed above store or process information in the United States. When your information leaves your country, we rely on these companies' contract terms and security to protect it.
Children, security and changes
Children. Rosebridge is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Security. The site uses an encrypted connection, only our team can see the waitlist and student records, and our database rules stop anyone else from reading them. No system is perfectly secure, so if something goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you.
Changes. When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll also email the people it affects.
